Hangul Buddy Privacy Policy

Who we are

This policy applies to the Hangul Buddy mobile app on Android and iOS (package and bundle ID com.hangulbuddy.app), a Korean learning app for K-pop and K-drama fans.

Accounts

Hangul Buddy does not have sign-up or sign-in. We do not collect your email address or name, and we do not create an online user account.

Data we handle

• On-device learning data. Study progress, nickname, settings, owned items, language, and similar state stay on your device. We do not send this to our server or use it as an online profile.
• Microphone audio (pronunciation). If you take a speaking test, microphone audio is sent through our server to a third-party speech-recognition service (Deepgram) so we can transcribe it. We do not store the audio file on our server.
• Search text. Text you type to translate or study is sent to third-party translation services (such as Google Translate) so we can make a Korean study card.
• Purchases (Android only). On Android, subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed by Google Play Billing and RevenueCat. Purchase history and entitlement status are shared with those providers. We do not receive your card number. The iOS app does not offer in-app purchases.
• Ads (Android only). The Android app may show ads. Google AdMob may collect the advertising ID, approximate location (based on IP address), app interaction data, and diagnostic information to serve and measure ads. See Google’s Privacy Policy. The iOS app does not show ads and does not ask for permission to track you.

How we use and share data

We use the data above only to run the app: lessons, pronunciation scoring, translation, ads, and purchases. We do not sell personal information. We share data with service providers only as needed:

• Deepgram (speech-to-text)
• Google Translate and similar translation services (search/translation)
• Google Play / RevenueCat (Android payments and entitlements)
• Google AdMob (Android ads)

Server logs

Our server may record request metadata such as time, path, and IP address for rate limiting and operations. Server logs do not store audio files.

Retention and deletion

On-device learning data stays on your phone until you uninstall Hangul Buddy or clear the app’s storage in Android settings. Uninstalling the app deletes that on-device data. Audio is processed to fulfill the pronunciation request and is not kept on our server. To ask us to delete personal information we may still hold (for example in operational logs), email the developer address shown on the Hangul Buddy listing on Google Play.

Children

Hangul Buddy is intended for users 13 and older. It is not directed at children under 13.

계정

Hangul Buddy에는 회원가입·로그인이 없습니다. 이메일과 이름을 수집하지 않으며, 온라인 회원 계정도 만들지 않습니다.

다루는 정보

• 기기 안 학습 데이터. 학습 진행도, 닉네임, 설정, 보유 아이템, 언어 등은 기기에만 저장됩니다. 우리 서버로 보내지 않으며 온라인 회원 프로필로 쓰지 않습니다.
• 마이크 음성 (발음 인식). 말하기 테스트를 하면 마이크 음성이 우리 서버를 거쳐 제3자 음성 인식 서비스(Deepgram)로 전달되어 받아쓰기에 쓰입니다. 우리 서버에는 음성 파일을 저장하지 않습니다.
• 검색어. 번역·학습을 위해 입력한 글은 제3자 번역 서비스(Google 번역 등)로 전송되어 한국어 학습 카드를 만드는 데 쓰입니다.
• 구매 내역 (Android만). Android에서는 구독·인앱결제를 Google Play 결제와 RevenueCat이 처리하며, 구매 내역과 이용권 상태가 해당 업체에 전달됩니다. 카드 번호는 받지 않습니다. iOS 앱에는 인앱결제가 없습니다.
• 광고 (Android만). Android 앱은 무료 이용 시 광고가 나올 수 있습니다. Google AdMob이 광고 ID, 대략적 위치(IP 기반), 앱 상호작용, 진단 정보를 광고 게재·측정에 수집할 수 있습니다. Google 개인정보처리방침을 참고하세요. iOS 앱은 광고를 보여 주지 않고, 추적 허용도 묻지 않습니다.

이용·제공

위 정보는 레슨, 발음 채점, 번역, 광고, 결제 등 앱 기능을 위해서만 씁니다. 개인정보를 판매하지 않습니다. 기능 제공에 필요한 범위에서만 아래 업체와 공유합니다.

서버 로그

우리 서버는 운영과 요청 제한을 위해 시각, 경로, IP 주소 같은 요청 메타데이터를 기록할 수 있습니다. 서버 로그에 음성 파일은 저장하지 않습니다.

보관과 삭제

기기 안 학습 데이터는 Hangul Buddy를 삭제하거나 Android 설정에서 앱 저장공간을 지울 때까지 기기에 남습니다. 앱을 삭제하면 기기 안의 데이터도 삭제됩니다. 발음 음성은 요청 처리에 쓰이며 우리 서버에 보관하지 않습니다. 운영 로그 등 우리가 가지고 있을 수 있는 개인정보의 삭제를 요청하려면 Google Play의 Hangul Buddy 페이지에 표시된 개발자 이메일로 보내 주세요.

어린이

Hangul Buddy는 만 13세 이상을 대상으로 합니다. 만 13세 미만 어린이를 대상으로 하지 않습니다.

데이터 삭제 안내 / Data Deletion

삭제 요청은 Google Play의 Hangul Buddy 페이지에 표시된 개발자 이메일로 보내 주시면 처리합니다.

우리 서버에는 계정, 이메일, 음성 파일을 저장하지 않습니다. 기기 안의 학습 기록, 닉네임, 설정은 Hangul Buddy 앱을 삭제하면 함께 삭제됩니다.

제3자 서비스(Android의 Google AdMob·Google Play 결제·RevenueCat, 그리고 Deepgram, 번역 서비스)가 보관하는 데이터는 각 서비스의 정책을 따릅니다. 해당 서비스에 직접 삭제를 요청할 수 있습니다.

보관 기간: 기기 안 학습 데이터는 앱을 삭제하거나 Android 설정에서 앱 저장공간을 지울 때까지 기기에 남습니다. 우리 서버에는 계정·이메일·음성 파일을 보관하지 않습니다.

To request deletion, email the developer address shown on the Hangul Buddy listing on Google Play. We will process the request.

We do not store accounts, email addresses, or audio files on our server. Learning records, nickname, and settings on your device are deleted when you uninstall the Hangul Buddy app.

Data kept by third-party services (Google AdMob, Google Play Billing, and RevenueCat on Android, plus Deepgram and translation services) follows each service’s own policy. You can request deletion directly from those services.
